Ten and Growing!

Every time I see him, which is in the spring and winter, the first minutes are shy and reserved.

I'm patient, ask questions, and wait for him to warm up and remember.....I'm his Grammy. He always does.

I start also with talking about memories - the sound of the train going by his old house when he was little; butterflies being released in his yard; the porch swing I used to rock him on, his Mom. He always remembers and the soft smile begins.

It warms my heart.

Today was the same. At first he doesn't get too close, but ALWAYS before the day is over, he is laying near me so I can reach over and rub his back and ruffle his coal black hair - just like his Mom did.

He is a kind and loving boy that any mother and grandmother would be proud of.....his smiles and softness remind me so much of her.

I like to "listen" to his smiles...........just like I listened to his Mom's.

Hi Babs - Your grandson is lucky to have you...you'll be able to share many stories about his mom as he grows older. Happy Mother's Day.

I lost my mother when I was 4. The gift you provide by keeping his mother's love and memories alive is beyond words ... so, so important for him ... and you ...

Thank you all - he is a treasure to me for so many reasons. I'll share photos of him when I get back to San Miguel.

Would that you didn't have to drink from that cup dear sweet Leon Redbone-loving lady, but you
have shown us how to go and Live
with grace and heart.

Did the grandson comment on how
skinny gramma looks these days?
Did anyone?

Ahh yes Charley - the best comment was from my friend Amanda, in her wheel chair, she put her arms up and said "Babs is back!" It feels good to think I look good...and to be honest, to get compliments too.

I'm STILL on the weight loss path

Thank you for that. I had a wonderful flashback to the early years with my own son. I can still hear his breathing and feel the glow of his warmth. Now he is giving me my own grand child.

You are a gift to that young man and I only hope to be as good a Grammy as you are when mine arrives in November.

Enjoy.

Ahh my dear, being a grandmother is a gift beyond description. I say its a way to remind us to be "soft". Pure joy!
You WILL revel in it, I'm sure. Glad my comment brought back a memory for you........

Lucky Christopher...so glad he and you are maintaining that connection. Hard to believe he is getting so tall...I remember baby-sitting him when he was just a few weeks old.
