The "other side " of Perfection!

Living in Mexico has been wonderful for my formerly perfection seeking self.

First thing I did was to use every color I could in my house to get over the perfection of the gold, black, beige and white I lived with in Texas.  The current house could be used as an advertisement for Sanford & Sons.  No rhyme or reason.  I love it.  Some would call it eclectic.

Then I eventually started buying my clothes at the Tianguis.  I do remember being horrified at the beginning before I understood that I could buy the good stuff there for pennies on the dollar that I would pay in Texas.  PLUS the thrill of the hunt!

But, I must admit I truly have hit the other side of perfection as of last week.

I went to get a pedicure.  It was wonderful at The Nail Lounge.  As the girl went to put my two sandals on prior to painting my toenails, I looked at my feet in disbelief.  I had on two black sandals but they didn't match!  I burst out laughing.  I had not even noticed.  I confess they were similar but still, not the same. To me it was hilarious.

I'm so happy to be imperfect and see the humor in it.  No more wasted days trying to do everything right and not succeeding.

I think I've reached my "state of bliss".

Thanks for writing this, Barbara. I too am a perfectionist, and it keeps me from getting a lot of things done. My personal mantra is "the perfect is the enemy of the good. I keep repeating it, and it helps a bit, but it hasn't entirely "worked," if you know what I mean.

Frankly my perfectionism is one thing I worry about in regards to moving south.

Thanks for showing me the path.

Where even now, we are agonizing over our next blog post. LOL...

If you came to Mx it would be easier because there aren't all the expectations to be perfect!

If you notice, even the photo I posted has spots on it and certainly isn't perfect!

You've resolved the paradox of perfection in imperfection. Imperfection allows for progress, improvement and potential.

I wore two mismatches to the chiropractor back in Seattle. He and I both had a good laugh. The shoes weren't even the same color!

Oh Babs, thanks for starting my day with a good laugh. Maybe it isn't just letting go of the perfect, maybe it is getting to "this" age in life. I am now in the states and now love to thrift shop, I buy may things here and there and get lots of compliments. As for Mexico you are right I loved all the bright colors I could use together, especially the lime green.

Bill - Onward and upward, but slowly, ha.

Oh good grief Beck, at least mine were both black. Honestly as my feet were propped in front of me I kept saying to myself, "Are those two shoes REALLY different?"

Thanks Kay - if you're there I'll be all right!

Gin - you're right of course, it's that time in life where who cares if something matches? Ha.
Glad you had a good time in Mexico wherever you were. ALL colors go together here.......

I found crossing over to Mexico was simple. I now wear raggedy shorts, torn shirts, and sandals with the stitching noticeably fraying. I am comfortable. The only people who seem to notice are Canadian women who repeatedly tell me I should not leave the house looking as I do. And I love ignoring them.

Well, at least they notice!
