So far......NO Good

I wrote mid-week that so far this busy week had been good and then it suddenly went "downhill" yesterday and today - partly my fault and partly not my fault.

I must have read the article about the event last night in a stupor or something as I thought that the Pan American race cars and drivers were going to be at the event and I wanted to see the cars.............so I go to this thing with my friend who is in town visiting and it was just a margarita tasting contest...........I don't drink tequila! Yes, I admit that it was for a charity so all was not lost but we left after about an hour...........I sure wish I had that original article to reread to see how I could have gone so wrong!

But, I salvaged my disappoint about that by reminding myself that the Gueleguetza was this evening and I would be seeing the beautiful costumes and the dances and the gifts they would throw into the audience...........then I got a call this morning from someone I had convinced to buy tickets to see this and he said there was a "snafu" and the whole thing had been cancelled.
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

I would bet that the people coming form Oaxaca didn't get the money from the ticket sales early enough to make the trip from Oaxaca - there were to be artisans and at least 25 performers with all their costume changes etc. I don't really know but they are such honorable people that I know they wouldn't cancel unless there was something of catastrophic proportions.

"Go with the flow" HAS to be the motto in Mexico or life would NOT be fun at all!

We'll see what tomorrow brings............ha!

My favorite Anne Lamott quote: "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans." Always another day. Always more events.

By the way, I sat down and listened to a Mahler symphony tonight. And analyzed it to death. It was fun. The analyzing; not the Mahler.

What a disappointment for you! I put up with your not blogging everyday because I knew how busy you were collecting cultural material to blog about. Oh well, it is SMA afterall, there will be something else interesting around the corner!

Hey Steve - SO glad you listened to music last night - NOW try to do it without "analyzing"-just pure enjoyment! Maybe while you sit in the hot tub. I used to turn on Mozart and Beethoven when I needed to work on architectural plans for a restaurant - I could almost do a complete set in 5 hours with the right music! I would forget the world at that drafting table with that music.....I do miss it now and then. Music definitely increases creativity!
Thanks Wayne for understanding my disappointment....but after Tuesday I'll be busy w-o-r-k-ing to get all the last minute details ready for my tour group that arrives on the 27th - Play will be over for a while...........

No music in the hot tub. To be heard over the pump noise, it would be loud enough to disturb the neighbors. That is one thing I like about Mexico, noise is not an issue. It is just there.

As for listening without analyzing -- not possible. That is how I enjoy it. There are times that I will play a 5 second passage 10 or 20 times merely to hear a nuance. Helps to explain mt single status.

Steve, don't you know that we CHOOSE to be single - our idiocyncracies (spelling?) surely aren't the reason! Well maybe?
