Most mornings at daybreak I am awakened by the sounds of the myriad of birds in the garden BUT there also is the sound of fireworks at dawn (not particularly pleasant) or the melodious sound of the church bells at about 6:30 for the "call to Mass". The subtle sound of "whoosh, whoosh" awakens me on some mornings when Jay, the pilot of the hot air balloon, swooshes over the house and dips down toward the presa for the passengers to see the wildlife and birds. IF I'm already awake and have had SOME coffee, I'll often take the camera up on the roof terrace and TRY to get a good shot as they come nearer and nearer. I like this shot - hope you do also. Maybe one of these days I'll get up enough nerve to take a ride.............

Whoa, that is cool.
They have that in SMA?
Any idea how much it costs?
Maybe I can schedule things all together.
Go to SMA for breakfast at the Monet Cafe.
Followed by a hot air balloon ride.
Then off for some Italian food and to listen to Doc Severinsen play!
Todd
The balloons passing by was one of my favorite sights from my balcony in the AM. And of course the magnificent sunsets at night were to die for. I did not take a balloon ride while in SMA, however I did take a sunrise balloon ride in the fall here in New England and it was spectacular. I say go for it!!!
Babs -- Don't stop at hot air ballooning. Try sky diving -- it is the best.
Hi Ya'll - Well Steve if I'm scared of heights NOT sure sky diving is in my future - although in the past I wanted to do that......and Todd - You CAN schedule all those things together - that is when Doc Severinsen gets back - he's touring right now with Gil & Cartas - I'll let you know when they get back! I think the cost of the ride is $100 or a little more (US DOLLARS)
Gypsy Girl yes, the hot air balloon in the morning and the incredible sunsets almost every night - I know you enjoyed it so much while in San Miguel - I'm grateful EVERY day!
WOW! That is a great morning sight to awake to.
Babs, re Sky diving, take a tandem jump first or an AFF (assisted free fall) there is little or no sensation of height, and if you ever did want to do it you will love it. pick a date and work towards it. The feeling when you land after a first jump is inexplicable.M ake it even more worthwhile do it for your favorite charity and raise cash)
I've had a hot air balloon ride, on my birthday, over the Napa Valley and it was wonderful fun. Go for it!
Nice shot...you should take a ride. It is such a great experience...very quiet with the exception of an occasional blast of burners.
Hi Everyone! Ironically yesterday there were THREE hot air baloons in the sky - first time in 8 years that I have seen that.......are the Gods telling me to go for a ride? Maybe.........not sure - I can't even walk to the edge of a rooftop patio without my stomach flipping.......I'm a wooz...
