Hillary

I sent off my ballot for President in the Texas primary on March 4th. As I was filling it out I was remembering that the first time I voted it was for John F. Kennedy and I was in college. WOW! I was honored to fill this ballot out for a WOMAN in the hopes that finally our country will have a woman leader as many other countries have had - for centuries!
I have followed Hillary's career for many, many years and her accomplishments with the Children's Defense Fund and the process of getting CHIP, the Children's Health Insurance Program started, lo those many years ago, just to name two.
I love Jimmy Carter, today, as a stateman, but when he came into power as a President, it was a learning curve that stopped the country dead in its tracks. Obama is a great orator but he does not, in my humble opinion, have enough experience, nationally or internationally to move our country forward at this critical time, without a long learning curve.
It's funny that I'm writing this because I know we're NEVER supposed to discuss religion or politics.........but, so be it. I admit I'm proud to be a Democrat and to have voted in every election for the last 48 years! And, I respect your right to disagree and vote for other people and I don't understand why people today get mad at each other if we don't have the same views. Isn't that what a democracy is?

The first President I voted for was JFK too. I'll never again vote for a condidate that says, "trust me". It's all about past performance for me.

Bill O.

Hi, Babs. Like the blog. As you know from my blog, I have been very concerned about the tone of much of the discourse on the internet. I belong to a Mexico message board that is populated by people who cannot discuss anything without calling into question everyone else's virtue. You have taken a bold step, not in merely posting a political opinion, but posting it with a civil tone. I admire you for it.

I will probably not post my preference on my blog for one simple reason: I have not supported a winning candidate in a presidential primary since I started voting. After all, as Ed Koch once wisely said, I don't agree with myself 100% of the time.

I've scored 2 tickets for us to go see Obama tomorrow night at the Toyota Center. I saw Hillary when she was here and think I should go hear the other candidate. At this point I'm ready for a really big change and think Obama is the one but we shall see....

No diatribe yet. Amazing! I agree about Obama's learning curve, but he sure has some snappy catch phrases that will appeal to many of the younger crowd.

If everybody avoided talking about religion and politics, this world would resemble Orwell's 1984!
