Heading for Chiapas on Monday! Haven't been on a trip since last August/September to Texas. I've been lolling here in San Miguel.
Time to dust off the cobwebs and go exploring for a little adventure. Although I've traveled throughout Chiapas in the past, this time I'm flying into Villhermosa. Haven't been there before. Nor did I get to
Palenque, or the waterfalls on my way to San Cristobal de las Casas.
It was 2008 when I was last in Chiapas. I've wanted to return ever since. Now I will.
One of the great rewards for going to Chiapas is participating and observing the indigenous peoples in their ceremonies, dress and hearing their language. Nope, it is not Spanish in the outlying villages. It is Tzotzil and Tzeltzal. Of course I have no idea what they are saying but it is so unique to hear.
On my last trip, I walked into a travel office, hired a guide and was off to distant villages that I had read about. Oh my, how beautiful and wonderful that day was for me. I hope to have a few days to take off in all directions from San Cristobal for some more exploring.
No laptop will be traveling with me. I'll be traveling light. So, be patient, hang on and I hope to share the trip with you in photos and dialog upon my return. Look for posts after the 18th or 19th.
See you on down the road!
