No Doubt About It............I'm Home in San Miguel de Allende

While sitting on the bench today, gabbing with girlfriends and soaking up the warmth of the sun, the sound of sweet singing was heard by all of us suddenly.
We looked up to see a bright red pickup truck with a statue in the back.  Followed by the singers holding red and white balloons.
They had a plan.  They pulled up to the Parroquia then backed up so the statue could be unloaded and taken into the church.  Singing continued along with shouts of "Viva Jesus"!

It all happened so fast that I got up from the bench and headed straight over to photograph whatever was happening.  They were already unloading the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as I got there.
Even the priest was out of the red pickup truck and heading up the stairs.

As this was happening, the church bells began to ring and ring and ring. LOUDLY.
Rung by young men, by hand.

A shiny red truck for a shiny red statue.

Jesus entered the Parroquia amidst singing, Vivas, and church bells ringing.
How sweet it is!

What was it for?  It's a guess..........there is a banner on the fence in front of the Parroquia proclaiming the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Celaya, a town 40 miles from here,  with a drawing of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  It is possible that this was in honor of that and possibly a donation from that Diocese.

Other then that, your guess is as good as mine.

It is this, the spontaniety of events, that capture the essence of Mexico.

Viva Mexico!
