Women on the Wall in Sunshine

I scurried out the door yesterday, with the wind blowing ninety miles an hour (an exaggeration) to take a photo of something that was in the sun.  Thinking that hopefully they were warmer then I.  At the time, little did I know that the temperature was going to drop "like a rock" before Thursday morning arrived.

When it is that windy here, we always know it is a front blowing in.  Having had that experience many times in Texas, it is expected.  The compass on the thermometer has been spinning for days.  First the wind was coming from the South, then the West, then the Northeast and finally due North.  The dreaded "Due North".

It was blowing in through the closed windows, under the doors and probably through the bricks since there is not plaster on the outside north wall.  Do you think adding plaster would make the house warmer?

I hoped that I was imagining the cold, but, no such luck.

When I awoke this morning, it was 25F!  Holy moly.  The good news was that the skies were azure blue with sunshine and NO wind.  Be grateful for little blessings!  By late this afternoon, the temperature had risen to 68 degrees F.  Forty-three degrees.

The only way to survive this kind of weather is layering.  At one point today I had four layers of clothing on.
Then as it warms up, it's take off time.  You can hear it all over the streets of San Miguel, "Take it off", "Take it off".  I'm just kidding.  However as you do look around people are shedding as the warmth increases.

Honestly, it's a boring thing when the most exciting thing going on in your life is the weather.

That's because almost everyone I know is at the beach and it is very quiet here except for the howling winds, the "vroom, vroom" of the motorcycle shop and the barking pit bull next door.

The BEACH is sounding better and better every hour of every day.

So relaxing and enjoyable.....I intend to write about our time tomorrow, probably.

Hope I see you again before you leave....I feel a real connection.

25°F in San Miguel de Allende?!? That's scandalous! Shouldn't be allowed. Everyone must have nearly frozen to death. Sheesh!

I'm glad it's warmed up for you.

Where it's not often that we can say in January that the past few nights have been considerably warmer than in Mexico.

At present it is 52 outside. Last night at this time it was 37. Let's hope this is a sign that the low in the morning will be about 42 and not 25. It did get up to 68 which in the intensity of our sun was delightful. In fact, had lunch outside overlooking some gardens to the sound of trickling water today.
Lovely.
Two more weeks and it will be time to buy plants and flowers and PLANT away.

The beach is here -- just waiting for you. We had a great day today -- in the upper 70s. I think.

Babs, where do you go to spend time at the beach? West coast or east?

Lets see here in Puerto Escondido High 82F low 70 F - Last night we sat out in the open patio garden in shorts and t-shirt to listen to Rich and Jeff (guitar and bass) at the Rincon Bar on the Rinconada on the west side of town - With a gentle ocean breeze and some good music I could not think of anywhere else I would rather be. ;-)

Steve, I know, I know. To add insult to injury, I had an electrical power surge last night that fried my microwave and coffee pot. Do you think the Universe is trying to tell me something? At least it didn't fry the computer thanks to the surge protecter. However, I slept with no heat last night. Bah humbug. It's 57 in the bedroom this morning - I know , I know that's perfect for YOU but not ME.

Calypso, if I could click my heels and be there this morning, I would.
Had no electricity last night, I think a transformer blew outside or something. Brrrr, in the bedroom this morning. Bah humbug.

Sharon, I go to a little area north of Manzanillo on the Pacific. Although I love the Caribbean and Cozumel, etc. it's a faaaar piece from here whereas I can be at the Pacific in 8 hours.

Oh, stop whining. If you wanna hear something truly sad, we're down to only 2 weeks left at the beach. Doesn't that make you wanna cry for us?? Although, as Steve just said, yesterday was just lovely, we discovered a new beach, Punta Pirule (just past Tenacatita) that we'll have to revisit. Looked just like a travel poster. More later.

Hi Babs,
We are planning a move to SMA this Spring. Do you experience any problems with your internet connection? A good connection is a must for us as we work from home.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG and hope to meet you after we get settled in.

Thanks--Ia Manning

Ia Manning - I was just having this conversation this morning.....when I moved here we had dialup which was so aggravating. Now I have a wireless modem with Telmex which is the phone company here and never have problems.
One thing I DO suggest is that you bring several voltage regulators to protect your computers, your modems and TV's if they are expensive. I had a surge last night that ended the life of the coffee pot and microwave. I do have a voltage regulator on the computer and all that stuff therefore I didn't lose that, thankfully. I do admit in 13 years this is the first appliance I've lost to this, but it does remind me that I'm not in the USA....Good luck in your move.
