The Brotherhood of Bloggers

Last week Calypso over at Viva Veracruz & Viva Puerto Escondido blog (you can find it in the blogroll to the right) threw down the gauntlet as to what each of our work areas look like - the area where we write our blogs.

His was a veritable room full of monitors, computers, electronic wizardry and gadgetry that defies description.  It looked like a CIA outpost.

Then Steve over at Mexpatriate in the Key of Steve  (he's on the right in the blogroll also) showed his work space.A table with the computer, speakers and other stuff.  He too is a gadget guru.

Then there is me.  I'm in a one bedroom, one bath house with no extra space.

I'm in a little corner downstairs in the bedroom next to the window so I can have the door open to listen to the birds and children at recess and have sunlight.  All the gadgetry is hidden under the tablecloth.

There is a matching table on the other side of the bed.  So the room has symmetry.  Always the designer, you know.

It's not a problem for me as long as there isn't a problem.  If there is, I throw up the tablecloth and get under the table to fix it.  No big deal.

I DO have a new monitor which I'm loving.  Other then that, everything is just a basic setup.
It suits me fine.

I'm not a gadget kinda girl.

All very tidy as one would expect from you Babs. The fact that you operate a Blog is to your credit. You appear to know more about this tech stuff than our friend Felipe. He just replaced his 12 YEAR OLD computer - yikes!

Yikes, 12 years! I wish mine lasted that long. I think this is the third one in 12 years........all clones. This latest one is a noname brand from here in Mexico.

Can you tell I'm a thrifty person?

And when it comes to computer stuff I am a spendthrift - normal people fall somewhere between you and me ;-)

But then who amongst us wants to be 'normal'?

Babs said...

"Normal?" I work so hard at just staying afloat much less being "normal". You made me chuckle.

Your blog cockpit is just as it should be -- feminine and neat. With the exception of the man cave around my computer, nothing in my house reflects my personality. Well, the rampant confusion might do that. Just a bit.

Oh I love your blogging space! It's lovely (as is your entire house and guest house). I could spend time here easily. In the other spaces? Not so much. I need order and calm and ahhhhhhh. And beauty of course. Yours offer all that. I love it.

Also - how wonderful about your renters! A win-win for all. Don't you love it when things like this happen?

Thanks Barbara. Yes, I call it synchronicity when it happens....
Wonderful.

So far, your blogging space is the most visually appealing. I like the fact that the gear is under the table.

I suppose I should post a picture of my space, which is basically my dining room. We'll see.

I am in favor of a lap top for you.
You need wi-fi, of course, so that you can be connected to the internet where-ever you choose to sit. I see you blogging from your roof-top terrace. Your bedroom could then lose the techno vibe. Christine

Christine, I have a laptop and wireless! I have always only used the laptop when I travel. It's an old, big one. But, truly until you said that I never thought of using it here and taking it up on the roof to blog. WHAT a great idea.........
Thanks for the suggestion.

You have a perfect space! As I work online, I have a very portable set-up. If I named my area it would probably be something like "Vámonos-A-Go-Go"!

Dang girl! Benne', I've wondered where you are and how you are.......
email if you want at babsofsanmiguel@yahoo.com. I think you've been going on another path?

Yes Babs, your setup is just as I imagined it would be. No wasted space!

Babs said...

Hmmm, Croft, should I take that as a compliment? ha.

Yes!

Two Lifetime folding tables; two Mac laptops, a Brother Laser Printer, all communicating via wifi. Our audio system is connected by wifi to our laptops.

We love Lifetime folding furniture, after we first became aware of it at Mariscos La Güera in Pátzcuaro.

We are practical folks, not at all style conscious. (I see another blog post theme developing.)

Your work space is feminine and Southern. I like it. I am a tidy person, too but not as decorative or creative as you. Thanks for posting.

Tancho - I'm practical too. Actually to have symmetry, I had two masonite rounds cut and put one over a round table that you assemble yourself while the other is an old children's desk that now is a round table. I made the tablecloths....So I probably set up this area for around $40USD.....
Laurie, I'm so glad to hear it has a Southern flavor......

Oops, I meant Don Cuevas, not Tancho. Oh boy, I"m in trouble now....ha.
