The tourism department of Mexico started a program about ten years ago to name
villages in Mexico that had distinctive characteristics. Architecture, festivals, natural beauty just to name a few.
San Miguel de Allende was one initially but once it became a UN World Heritage site the designation was dropped. The advantage of the designation is that federal funds are available to maintain the infrastructure of the village or town.
Yesterday I looked on You Tube to see if there was anything about these unique places. An incredible video is available of many of the 75 sites.
Now I've traveled a lot around Mexico and have been privileged to see many of these places. However, there are many I haven't seen. In the State of Hidalgo, Zacatecas and Jalisco. They are very close to the State of Guanajuato. I now have an agenda to see more!
I tried and tried, for over an hour, to download the video to the blog. I finally gave up and here is the website if you're interested in taking a delightful and interesting trip around Mexico for a little over seven minutes.

Enjoy.

I really enjoy reading your blog and very seldom comment on ANY blog. However, I wanted to thank you so much for the link to Pueblos Mágicos de México. The video just gave me more encouragement to continue traveling in México.
Here's what you have to paste in HTML mode. It's under the EMBED option. May or may not work ... I put spaces in front of both iframes

Thanks Sparks and Thanks Unknown. I'm ready to TRAVEL!
Hi Babs, Get the video playing - right click on the video - choose "copy embed code" - paste onto your Blog.
Thanks Croft. I'll try that if I ever decide to put a video on the blog again!
BTW, someone showed me how to "copy and paste" just a few days ago! Woo hoo......I'm entering the 21st century.
Beautiful video! Can't wait to travel to some of these Magical towns when we move to SMA in a few years.
Thanks for posting it.
Cheryl, you're most welcome. That was just a few of them. If you put the Publico Magicos in your search engine you can get a list of all of them!
