Twice a year I move things around. This is an eyeopening statement for me. I used to rearrange furniture on an almost weekly basis. I think it was a sign of discontentment. At the time I was doing that, we had a cocker spaniel who was almost blind and would leap into the air to jump on the sofa and I would have moved it. I then stopped moving furniture so much. Many times I would shove an armoire from a back bedroom to the dining room or vice versa, in a big house. That is when I lived in a one story house. The kids used to shake their heads in disbelief. I never did move one of them from one bedroom to the other though. I did have my limits, ha.
Now I AM limited. Plus the house is so small. You want to see it again? Go to Casa Tranquilo, the August 20th post. And so I'm limited on what I can shove around. Basically its a couple of rugs and the chaise lounge, the dining room table and the love seat. So, its a snap. I wish I could move everything, but no mas.
So, it's Fall and I switched things around today. The only other thing I do is to switch out pillows from the spring-summery ones to the fall-wintery ones that are tweedy and darker colors. I'm sure no one notices but me. But heck, like I say, once a designer, always a designer. I like the change.......in fact, hmmmm, I'm thinking I'm going to look for some of those faux fur pillows next time I'm in the USA. They would go so nice with the zebra skin rug and leopard suede loveseat.
Oooh, and they would be nice to snuggle up with.........See what I mean?

It's a very good idea to move furniture around. For one thing, it gives you a chance to sweep underneath. For another, you often find small lost objects, like tennis balls the dog lost. And then there's the novelty of having things in different places, makes them look newer. Your place may be small, but you've made it look so inviting. Wish I could turn you loose on my new condo.
What kind of designer are you? Interior? I've found that Mexican houses are designed in a way that makes them much harder to rearrange furniture...guess that means we have to be creative.
Well 1st mate, I would be happy to help if I were nearby. I DO still have a free ticket to Hermosillo to be used before Feb 1st.....from the romance last March.....maybe,,,some day I'll get up there. How are the surrounding areas up there now?
Leah, I was an interior designer who specialized in concept design for retail, restaurant and resort design. I seldom did residential design.....I think the houses in Mexico give you freedom to do a lot of different things that the constraints of the US didn't. Have fun.......Creativity is great.
Ahh...Babs is at it again and doing her thing. It is fascinating to me as I never move anything except to clean. Once done I'm oblivious. Next time you are here help me shuffel, okay?
I can´t get the vision out of my head of the blind dog sailing through the air only to . . . kersplat! The poor baby.
Kay I would be happy to help you shuffle. That fabric we used for your barstools and bench cushion still remains some of my most favorite fabric! How many years ago was that?
Felipe, you who doesn't even like dogs......Yes, kersplat, that's why I stopped moving the furniture...
