Actually I have heard great things about the festival, and on one of our exploration trips before we moved down we planned on being there.

BUT...
We had gotten very use to heading into a town and booking at the last minute.

This does not work for the Cervantino.

First we tried to book at Case de Pita, our usual haunt. All booked up.
Every where else, all booked up.

It's like here in Patzcuaro at day of the dead, if you haven't booked ahead, its a crap shoot!

So we headed to Zacatecas.

We ended up there in the middle of the street theatre festival.

Incredibly, we walked out onto our balcony to hear Madame Butterfly being performed across the street.

I have a secret blog that I did for friends and family that is not listed on my profile.

But I would like to share it with you.

Todd you are so right - you have to book NOW and get tickets NOW which is what I said in the rest of the blog - that disappeared! I need to add all that info this morning.......it wasn't til late last night that I looked at the blog and realized it only printed the first paragraph! I'll look at your info on Zacatecas - a lovely city!

I am leaving Oct 3rd for the Cervantino festival and am trying to find where online I can buy tickets to concerts etc.
Do you have an exact web address?

Thanks,

Sheila

Hi Sheila - Try www.ticketmaster.com for Mexico and see if that works - I usually drive to Guanajuato to a little window on the side of the Juarez Theater to get tickets - an hour over and an hour back! BUT it's worth it.......You might also check the Festival's website for more information on tickets - although I don't remember seeing anything.........Good luck!

If you are interested I just made my reservation in Hotel Casa del Agua in Guanajuato www.hotelcasadelagua.com.mx, it is rigth in the historic part of the city only a few minutes from everything. They told me they had another room available the last weekend of the festival.
