This is not the usual time that I head to Houston! Nothing has seemed "usual" for the last half year, so why should it be so now?
I'm leaving around the end of February and will not be back til the end of May or even the first of June. A LONG LONG time, in my book.
Needless to say, this is not for the "fun of it" - although some of it will be. Instead it is to get a NEW knee and turn in the old one. I'll leave Mexico slightly wounded and return as one of the many "bionic" people in San Miguel.
It will be hard to be gone at this time of the year as it is one of my favorite times. It is WARM and sunny. I usually enjoy working in the gardens to get ready for the rainy season. Hopefully Javier, the gardener, will take care of things for me.
I'll be missing the annual blooming of the jacaranda tree. One of my great joys!
I'm looking forward to spending time with family and friends. Seeing new babies that were born since I was there in May 2017! Taylor was born in Houston and Arden in Fort Worth.
Hugging grand kids and kids. Catching up with friends and having some good Southern food along with Tex-Mex. YUM.
I'll be seeing my daughter and son-in-law and their family, who did survive Hurricane Harvey.
Emma, their youngest will be graduating from high school in May! That will be the last grandchild in Houston to graduate from high school. My oh my, five of them! Amazing. It will be wonderful to be there to see her celebrate this accomplishment before she heads off to college.
I will miss the wee ones here, Matilda and Sebastian. Unfortunately they are not so little anymore.
Mati will turn ten in two weeks! Wow, where has the time gone????
Anyway, back to the task at hand. The task, in my mind, is to get to Houston, see everyone, have the surgery, get well, do whatever the Doctor and physical therapists tell me to do. Then I can come back home to Mexico, without a cane, hopefully.
I'll post until I leave and try to post while I'm gone, when possible. Thanks to all who
sent all kinds of GOOD information about knee surgery. The information was extremely helpful.
Houston friends - HOPE to see many of you while up there. However, you might have to come to me
as I'm not sure when I'll be able to drive again..........it's up to the Doctor! I'll be staying on the Southwest side of town along with the Galleria area, Kingwood and last, but not least somewhere near Galveston. There might be a few more locations included. Again, just depending on recovery along with what the Doctor says. Stay tuned!
