Not to laugh........not to be silly and not to bring laughter to others.
decorations, you just have to stop dead in your tracks and laugh. Seriously!
As I was taking these photographs, a taxi driver came up to me and said "Gringo loco". Indeed!
My kind of whacko.
I recently read an article (in the Atencion?) about this man and his wife, and why they do this. He drives, she passes out candy to the children. I've not yet seen the Christmas decorations. I'll have to watch for that. How lovely that they choose to spend some of their days just out and about making people smile.
Great fun! We saw a similar thing last year, an ATV all decked out like that, and they were handing out candy canes.
Yes, Peter. That was my friend Bill Nellis, quite a character. Very, very sadly Bill died of brain cancer last month at a too young age. He loved his ATV and decorating it for various holidays, especially Christmas.
Bill Nellis called for you when we stayed at your home last year. We had a nice chat. He then said why not come for dinner even if we had never met. So I said yes what the heck, a great way to meet people. He told us where he lived and Peter had been right by his house the day before, I had even remarked about his house to Peter. We spent a lovely evening meeting nice people, eating terrific food and loads of laughter. The highlight of the evening was the ride home on the ATV with Peter and I hanging on for dear life! That is one big hill to get up to your house. I am so sad to read that he has passed away, Peter and I still laugh about that ride home and now will do so feeling even more blessed to have spent an evening with him. The magic of San Miguel. Cheers Barbara,
Oh my, thanks for sharing that information Shelagh. Bill stayed in the guest house for two months for free while building his place. He was overwhelmed at the fact that I would not let him pay. He was "one of a kind" and a dear gentle giant.
I saw him a few week before he died. I would not have known him if he had not spoken to me first. We were both at Costco in Celaya. He told me he was dying, but I quipped back with a comment, not believing him. He went into the hospital in Leon two days later and never came back home.
I've lost 16 friends this year! Bill and my friends Sue and Vandy were the closest to me. It has been a very sad year. I started to write a blog post about Bill but just couldn't bring myself to do so......
Wish I had known that he called.....glad to know he did!
Loco perhaps. But a great design for a bug nonetheless.
Indeed, a wacko art car!
