We had a wind storm last night of epic proportions! Whew. It started around 7 or 7:30 and went on for a couple of hours.
I expected to get up this morning and see the pines, and all other manner of trees laying on the ground. Only one white agapanthus bloom laying on its side.
Add to the wind, the dust in the air and today there is grit everywhere.
Picture this - me in green and white polka dot socks. I hate grit. Even at the beach!
BUT, the good news is it dropped the temperatures significantly. It was a wind coming out of the north and it obviously brought a cold front. It was 37 on the porch this morning. It has been in the low 50's. (another reason for the socks).
There is hardly a breeze now - it's in the 60's. The sun is shining brightly and the birds are singing almost in unison.
The only one NOT disturbed last night by the blowing and howling winds was Velcro, the cat.
She was in her favorite place on the corner of the bed and in her favorite position. Every now and then as I moved around the room, she would barely open an eye to check on my activity. Just to make sure that SHE wouldn't be disturbed.
I used to hear about the dust storms in West Texas. I never experienced them until I moved to San Miguel. So, although our weather is perfect 90% of the time, every now and then we get something that reminds us that we are insignificant in the scheme of things.
And, to respect Mother Nature!
