I seldom, almost never, buy new CD's of music. There is a great guy in San Miguel who is a former sound man, recording guru who brings CD's to me frequently.
But, on a spur of the moment when I first arrived in Texas, I was so tired of listening to the same CD's that I carry in the car on my journeys back and forth, that I bought three CD's.
Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline and Tony Bennett. I looked for an Aaron Neville one but nothing.
I have played the Willie Nelson CD so many times as I have traveled the freeways of Houston. It's two records and full of old and some unheard before music. It is called "The Essential". What a listening treat.
Patsy Cline and Tony Bennett's are good too. Tony sings a lot of duets, but I keep going back to Willie.
I don't know if this is a new CD by Willie or not. I will say, to me, it is great.
So tomorrow as I hit the road for the BIG drive back to San Miguel, you can rest assured the above named
music will be playing and I'll be singing along.
See you on down the road!

Aaron Neville was featured on the CBS Sunday Morning show today. He now lives in NYC (could not deal with New Orleans after Katrina). He has a new album out titled "My True Story" and it is all doo-wap songs! I'm listening to it now on Spotify....love it! Have a safe trip.

I have a 3 CD set of Willie Nelson that has some of that old, seldom heard stuff too. He's a good travelling companion. Drive carefully! Maybe we can get together when you get home.
It's probably too late to do you any good this time, but in the future consider Cactus Music as an excellent source for your CD shopping. I just checked, and they are open until 7 tonight but don't open until 10 tomorrow.
Gracias, unknown. I think I'll check with my trusty friend in San Miguel and see if he has any Aaron Neville and possibly Diana Krall too!
BTW, Unknown, I saw that segment this morning. Very interesting.
Looking forward to his new album!
Enjoy yourself -- being on the road again.
Kinda dreading this trip..long story.
Living 50 miles from where I like to shop I began to listen to CD audio books and have found them to be a great companion. Fortunately I've been able to locate fairly good ones at the various thrift shops. The libraries also are a great source however I don't care for the return by date when sometimes I haven't finished listening to the book. Safe trip travel mercies to you.
Gin, I LOVE listening to Books on Tape on the 9 plus 5 hour drive from San Miguel to Houston. I watch for them at garage sales and flea mkts along with Goodwill. It makes the time just whiz by!
