It's a beautiful plant, it will grow new plants easily from cuttings, just stick them in well draining sand or dirt. It should do really well up there in the dry air of SMA. I got mine from a friend who had it in a hanging basket and it was gorgeous draping over the basket and covered in blooms. She did move it away from the patio door though, she put it where she could see it easily but not smell it.Jonnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14775514857047122526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34246214.post-5035854095379200612010-06-27T20:41:33.537-05:002010-06-27T20:41:33.537-05:00Yuk Jonna - First bats and now a "carrion&quo...Yuk Jonna - First bats and now a "carrion" plant. I have never detected an odor from it but the blooms only last a day - have never seen flies near or on it, but its pretty windy on the roof so maybe that's why. Yes, I agree that they are very alien looking and so delicate.......Babshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16609157345912932083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34246214.post-50845937717334716312010-06-27T19:18:52.398-05:002010-06-27T19:18:52.398-05:00That is a Carrion Plant, Stapelia gigantea, and I ...That is a Carrion Plant, Stapelia gigantea, and I too love the blooms. I had several when we were up in the desert, they don't like to be wet too much. It is probably a good idea not to plant it very close to where you sit often or a door as they do smell like dead meat when they are ready to be pollinated and they attract a lot of flies. Wonderful look though, a really alien bloom.Jonnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14775514857047122526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34246214.post-11098871903587581652010-06-26T21:07:00.170-05:002010-06-26T21:07:00.170-05:00American Mommy - I'm confused.
